Amoi
Amoi (アモイ, Amoi) is the 12th planet in the Garan planetary system, on the far edge of the Salinas Galaxy.
Colonisation History[]
A small, remote planet that originally lacked any outstanding resources or veins of precious ores and was inhabited by no sentient living creatures, it was overlooked by everyone for a long time. This impoverished planet had not seen any Commonwealth-directed colonization or immigration and the inspections conducted routinely every few years had halted and had not been resumed. Not even criminals fleeing the law would come here.
Eventually, a Think Tank called Abis decided to make Amoi the stage for its biggest project yet, and created the city of Tanagura. Abis and its group of Commonwealth scientists together built the city and its supercomputer mainframe Jupiter. However, Jupiter eventually rose to consciousness, and as a sentient being it declared total autonomy, driving the humans of Amoi under its subjugation.
Under Jupiter's control, Tanagura became a metallic cyber city mostly devoid of organics, while the exiled humans settled in Midas – Tanagura' satellite city.
Eventually Tanagura elevated Amoi from a barren underdog, to a power that intimidated even the Commonwealth. This allowed Amoi to retain its independence, and to date it does not belong to any Galactic Commonwealth.

Under Tanagura’s control, it became a tourist destination, a resort world only for those with the time and wealth to partake of its delights. Midas, which was not constrained by any taboos or politics, allowed every pleasure imaginable, so long as Tanagura’s laws were respected.
The demand for entry was ceaseless, but the visa requirements set by Tanagura were strict. It was the norm for entry visas to Midas to be reserved months in advance, available only to the select few. For such a visa, a full biometric analysis was a requirement, and all attempts at bribery, threats or coercion failed. Everyone waited their turn without exception. For the privileged, an entry visa to Midas was more than just prestigious, it was a status symbol.
The off-worlders who overstayed their visas, knowns as Sinkers, were punished harshly if discovered. Usually, they were blacklisted and a nanochip imbedded at the base of their skull. If they attempted to return to Amoi, the nanochip would respond in a second, killing the host.
Black Market Trade[]
Tanagura’s scientific achievements were an unparalleled force in fields such as bioengineering and nanotechnology. However, most of this science came at the expense of morality, and Tanagura has often faced critisicm and condemnation for the way it pushes the limits of creation.
Bioengineered humanoid sex dolls, known as Pets, which were its most prominent product, are an example of this cutting-edge technology which was frowned upon by the Commonwealth.
The moral outrage however, did not mean that there was no demand for their technology and products, quite the contrary. But in order to meet this demand, unorthodox channels had to be taken. Most of Amoi’s trade took place on the Black Market, which was seen as business as usual by Tanagura.
Geography[]
Amoi is the 12th and furthest planet in the Garan system. It is orbited by two moons that cast bluish light on the landscape below. Occasionally, the magnetic storms, not uncommon for frontier systems, would envelop Amoian skies in auroras.
The planet itself is barren and devoid of natural resources and so relies on tourism and trade to keep its cities operating. Its de facto capital is the metallic city of Tanagura ruled by the supercomputer Jupiter, and inhabited by cyborg Elites, bioengineered Pets, human Furniture and fully mechanical Androids.
Next to it lies Midas, the offshoot of Tanagura where humans live under the constraints of a strict class system imposed by Jupiter. The city is divided into 9 areas that are mostly separated by purpose.
On the coast, nestled between Tanagura and Area 8 Sasan, lies the Amoian spaceport which serves as it’s on- and off-world gate.
Climate[]
Amoi has a temperate climate with seasonal shifts. Summers are mild and short and ease into snowless but cold winters. Otherwise, the weather ranges from clear blue skies and pleasant temperatures, to various types of rain, from drizzle to heavy downpours that flood the streets.
Occasionally winds blown from the sea cause the air to become particularly humid.
It is speculated by the citizens of Ceres that the extremely skewed gender ratio in natural births, which are now thought to only occur there, could be due to Amoi’s climate or some similar feature. This speculation, however, is false.
